Dr. Li received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tianjin University in 1992. He is now the Distinguished Professor, Director of Institute for Fuel Injection and Combustion, School of Automotive Studies, Tongji University. He is the Fellow of China SAE and SAE International and the core evaluator of mechanical engineering, the China Engineering Education Accreditation Associations. His main research interests focus on fuel atomization, combustion diagnosis and control, the Argon Power Cycle hydrogen engine and Ammonia/Hydrogen engine for zero carbon emissions. He has co-published more than 550 journal and academic conference publications.

  • Vice President: Wei-Hsin Chen (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan)

Professor Wei-Hsin Chen is a Distinguished Professor at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He is also the Honorary Chair Professor at Tunghai University, Chair Professor at the National Chin-Yi University of Technology, Research Fellow of the National Science and Technology Council, Taiwan, and Vice President of the Institute for Liquid Atomization and Spray Systems (ILASS)-Asia. He received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, National Cheng Kung University in 1993. He was a visiting professor at Princeton University, USA; the University of New South Wales, Australia; the University of Edinburg, UK; the University of British Columbia, Canada; and the University of Lorraine, France. He was also an invited lecturer at the University of Lorraine. His research interests include bioenergy, hydrogen energy, clean energy, carbon capture and utilization, and atmospheric science. He is the Section Editor-in-Chief of Energies, the Associated Editor of International Journal of Energy Research, and the editorial board member of several international journals, including Applied Energy, Scientific Reports, Chinese Chemical Letters, Frontiers in Energy Research, etc. He also serves as a Guest Editor of nearly 15 SCI-indexed journals. His important awards include Outstanding Research Award (National Science and Technology Council, Taiwan), Highly Cited Research and Review Paper Awards (Applied Energy, Elsevier), Outstanding Engineering Professor Award (Chinese Institute of Engineers), Highly Cited Review Article Award (Bioresource Technology, Elsevier), and seven consecutive years (2016-2022) Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science) Highly Cited Researcher Award.

  • Vice President: Seong Hyuk Lee (Chung-Ang University, Korea)

Professor Seong Hyuk Lee is currently a professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chung-Ang University (CAU). He received his bachelor, master, and Ph.D. degrees from the Mechanical Engineering Department, Chung-Ang University, South Korea, in 1992, 1995, and 1999, respectively. After that, Prof. Lee worked as a post-doctor at Seoul National University for three years. Then, he joined the CAU School of Mechanical Engineering in 2004. Also, he visited the Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics Department of Michigan Technological University (USA) as visiting scholar in 2010. He has contributed significantly to phase change heat transfer, such as evaporation, condensation, and frosting. In particular, he mainly focused on visualizing droplet evaporation, especially with surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging. His research group has conducted many industrial and academic projects on multi-scale/multi-physics simulations. He is now serving as Edior-in-Chief of the Journal of ILASS-KOREA and an associate editor of JMST(Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology). In addition, he is now serving as vice-chairman of ILASS-KOREA and KSME (Korea Society of Mechanical Engineers)-Thermal Division. Also, he received Young Scientist Award from KSME in 2016. Recently he received the Best Paper Award from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (South Korea) in 2019, the Best Paper Award from IJACR (International Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration), and JMST (Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2020.

Jun Hayashi received the BSc. (2003), MSc. (2005) from Keio University. He received Ph.D (2009) in mechanical engineering from Osaka University. He is a Professor of the department of energy conversion science, Kyoto university. His current interests include soot formation in multi-phase combustion, plasma-assisted ignition/combustion, and combustion, heat transfer phenomena in the liquid propulsion system.

  • Promotion and Communication Officer: Xuesong Li (Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China)

Xuesong Li, Associate Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University with expertise in spray atomization and laser diagnostics, particularly in phase changing sprays. Currently Associate Editor of ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power. PI of several fundings such as NSFC, industrial collaboration projects in spray and combustion, etc.

Professor, Chair of the committee of the Institute for Energy Research of Jiangsu University

She graduated from Jiangsu University, China with a doctor’s degree in 2004 and performed postdoc research at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany from 2007 to 2008. In 2012 and 2016-2017, she worked at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the Argonne National Laboratory as a visiting scholar. He has been selected as the the “333 high-talent Project”, “Young and Middle-aged Academic Leaders of Qinglan Project” of Jiangsu Province. Her main research directions are: spray and combustion, cavitating two-phase flow, thermal fluid theory and technology in energy utilization. She has undertaken more than 20 national, provincial and ministerial projects, won 1 special prize for scientific and technological inventions in the mechanical industry of China, 5 second prizes for scientific and technological progress of Jiangsu Province or the Ministry of Education. She has published 3 books, more than 180 SCI papers, being cited more than 4000 times with H index of 37 and been granted more than 40 national invention patents. She also works as the member of the Combustion Committee of the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics, Deputy Director of Combustion and energy conservation Branch of Chinese society for internal combustion engines and vice Chairman of the Renewable Energy Society of Jiangsu Province.

Yoshimitsu Kobashi received his Master and Doctor of Engineering from Doshisha University in 2004 and 2007. Upon receiving his doctoral degree, he worked Doshisha University as a postdoctoral fellow for one year. He worked at Kanazawa Institute of Technology from 2008 to 2016, and at Hokkaido University from 2016 to 2022. He also has experience as a visiting researcher at the Engine Research Center, the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. From 2022, he started the new career at Okayama University as an associate professor.

Yoshimitsu is currently interested in optimizations of diesel combustion with carbon neutral fuels, and in modeling of spray combustion with 3D-CFD.

Seoksu Moon received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering Department of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in 2007. He worked at Hiroshima University (Japan) and Argonne National Lab. (USA) as a postdoc until 2011, and at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST, Japan) as a research scientist until 2018. Now, he is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Inha University, Republic of Korea. His research interests are fundamental X-ray and laser-based studies of fuel spray and combustion for conventional and carbon-free fuels (hydrogen, ammonia, and e-Fuel), and thermodynamic and heat transfer analyses of various energy systems (engines, boilers, heaters, and so on).

Dr. Devendra Deshmukh received the master’s degree. in 2002 from the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, India. He earned Ph.D. in 2012 from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, India. During his doctoral tenure, he investigated SVO sprays for CI engines. He investigated liquid fraction distribution in dense sprays using planar laser techniques. Later, he joined IIT-Indore, Department of Mechanical Engineering, where he worked on modelling multicomponent evaporating spray, renewable fuels for CI engine and characterizing dense sprays. His current interests include using laser diagnostics for multispecies detection and emissions in biofuel combustion. His other interest includes automotive engines, exhaust emission reduction and waste heat recovery.

Prof. Min Xu is a distinguished professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His research and development activities on high efficiency clean combustion system had won a world-wide recognition both in industry and academia. He is the deputy director of National Engineering Laboratory for Automotive Electronic Control Technologies, and the director of Institute of Automotive Engineering and Research. Based on his research on spray and combustion and his contribution to the automotive industry, Prof. Xu was elected as CI Fellow in 2022, SAE fellow in 2009, the president of ILASS-Asia in 2015-2016, and the president and secretary of ICLASS International 2021-2024.

Dr. Keiya NISHIDA is a Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering, Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, Hiroshima University, Japan.  He received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1978, M.S. in Engineering of Transportation Phenomena in 1980, and Ph.D. in 1989, all from Hiroshima University.  From 1980 to 1982, he was a research and development engineer of Kubota Ltd, Osaka, Japan.  Professor NISHIDA joined Hiroshima University as a Research Associate in 1982 and has been involved until now in experimental and computational studies on the fuel spray and combustion in internal combustion engines.  He got the awards such as the prize for the best paper in the field Diesel engines presented at 20th CIMAC Congress in 1993 and others.
